Tree surgery
Why do tree surgery
Effective tree surgery keeps trees healthy and safe.
In a residential setting, appropriate tree surgery can completely change the look of a garden. It can also significantly increase the light coming into both your garden and house.
Whether we’re working in a residential garden, or a larger commercial development, our skilled tree surgery teams will ensure that your work is completed safely and efficiently. We aim to please!
Felling and sectional felling
The fastest way we can fell a tree is to cut it at the base, allowing the entire tree to fall to the ground where we can saw it up into smaller pieces, which are then removed.
However, where a tree is in a built up area or garden, it is more likely to be felled in sections. The tree surgeon will climb the tree and remove it in pieces. Branches are removed first, then the arborist cuts the trunk into sections, allowing each section to fall to the ground. The sections will be lowered by rope if the location requires it. In some cases, for larger trees, we may need to use a crane to lower the sections.
Crown Surgery
Crown thinning:
The tree surgeon selectively removes branches and stems at their point of origin, in order to reduce the density of the tree without altering its overall shape.
Crown lifting:
Sometimes, removal of the lower branches can be desirable to keep them away from buildings and traffic, to let in more light, and to open up an attractive view.
Crown reduction:
This procedure is done to reduce the overall size and extent of the crown, and improve the health of the tree.
Pruning and hedge trimming
Dead wood removal:
At times dead branches may need to be removed if they pose a safety threat or are a danger to property. Get in touch with us if you are worried about any dead or damaged branches on your property.
Tree training:
We can train young trees with various pruning techniques, which create a more attractive shape and appearance.
Hedge trimming:
Our skilled arborists can prune your hedges to keep your garden looking tidy and trim. The hedges do not have to be as tall as this one!
Storm damage rectification
We offer a storm damage clean up service and will cut up and remove storm debris.
In cases of emergency, give us a call straight away and we can usually make an assessment and get a team out within a few hours.
Stump grinding and removal
Tree stumps can look unsightly, especially if they are in the middle of a lawn or garden. They can also be a hazard. We can remove the stump using a stump grinder, which will break up the stump and nearby visible roots. We will then clear these from the site.
The wood chips we produce in the process can be used for mulch, and you have the option to keep this for your own use.
Veteran Tree Management
Veteran trees are important as they provide conditions suitable for a wide range of other plants and animals. Many of these species require the particular conditions provided in an old tree.
These trees may require special care, such as propping or bracing heavy branches to provide support. We can advise on the care needed for your veteran trees.
Getting started
Get in touch and we will arrange a convenient time and date for a member of our team to meet with you to assess the tree/s and discuss what needs done.
We will send or email a written quotation to you. Once we receive your acceptance (preferably in writing), then we will contact you and arrange a suitable time to carry out the work.
If the work requires Council permission, for example, if you live in a Conservation Area, or the tree has a Tree Preservation Order, we can arrange the necessary permissions on your behalf.
Eastland Foresters can also arrange for any site preparation, so road closures or restriction of parking areas are not a problem.
We always perform standard health and safety checks and complete a risk assessment before any work begins.
Our tree surgery team will leave your property tidy and dispose of any arisings on your behalf.
We recycle everything we remove, turning timber into firewood and wood chip. We convert other trimmings into mulch or compost. Please ask if you wish to retain these for your own use.
